Bowl champion on Sunday.
Former New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree was in the area giving a talk on overcoming hardships. Tyree, best known for his amazing helmet catch in Super Bowl XLII, talked about how he persevered through challenges in his life and the role his faith has played.
Tyree is one of a number of sports stars asked to come be a part of the church's "Making A Comeback" series. Senior Pastor Vince DiPaola believes hearing these personal stories will help his congregation apply those same principles in their own lives.
"I went from struggling with substance abuse, alcohol addiction," says Tyree. "You know, I guess you could say typical challenges of an inner city black kid. Coming through even an arrest in '04 and going through a total transformation when I first met Christ and that's preserved my NFL career and laid the foundation for me to be a Super Bowl champion."
Later this month, the church series will continue with talks from Jill Kelly, the wife of former quarterback Jim Kelly, and Buffalo Bills star Stevie Johnson will share his story.
Sunday services are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and you can click here for more information on the talks.
